It is really something to sing and dance about.
Dig up those old bones and get them dancing!

Change the two party system
so people against something like abortion
but for something like environmental protection never again get bigger and badder storms
and two bankrupting wars instead.

A chandler can be a candlemaker but also a dealer in specialize goods in particular ship fittings, so a family of the name originating in an inland town was more likely the former, but origin in a harbor town the latter. In the case of this family the movement from Wessex to Scotland and then to France as well as the noble marriage speak for grander business than candle sticks, although these were not at all insignificant before Edison brightened night life.

Thomas, b c 1475 at Bishop's Stortford, had an unknown wife who was buried in 1514, when he was charged for 'waste of torchis' at her burial. Thomas was a chaundler, or candle maker, of Bishops-Stortford, a churchwarden there in 1521, 1522 and 1536. He was living 19 Mar 1548 and died between 1548 and 1551. Chandler Family researchers have nothing that would agree with the statement that he was the son John Chaundler and Jane Gitton, and married to Mary Agnes Tate. The distance between and Bishops Stortford and Wiltshire speaks against such relationship.

Margaret (Chandler) (Monck) Denison, wife of WILLIAM DENISON, was first cousin of William Chandler, immigrant to Roxbury in 1637. Deacon William Denison married in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, 7 November 1603, Margaret (Chandler) Monk. Margaret Chandler
m1 Albury, Hertfordshire, 2 April 1600 Henry Monk, who was buried at Bishop's Stortford 10 December 1602. She was admitted to Roxbury church as member #33: "Margret Dennison, the wife of Willia[m] Dennison, It pleased God to work upon her heart & change it in her ancient years, after she came to this land; & joined to the church in the year 1632;" "Old Mother Dennison" died Roxbury 3 February 1645/6.
They had 7 children (all baptized Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire): John, William, George, Daniel, Sarah, Edward, George. William was baptized Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, 3 Feb 1571, son of John and Agnes (Willie) Denison. Maltster from Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1631 & settled in Roxbury. Died in Roxbury 25 January 1653/4. Married in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, 7 November 1603, Margaret (Chandler) Monk. "Old Mother Dennison" died Roxbury 3 February 1645/6. Son Daniel Denison left a remarkable record addressed to his grandchildren, which details the immigrant's family. "That you being left fatherless children might not be altogether ignorant of your ancestors, nor strangers to your near relations, thought meet to acquaint you with your predecessors, and your descent from them.... Your great grandfather my dear father whose name was William, had by my dear Mother whose name was Chandler six sons, and one daughter, two of which (viz) one son and the daughter died in their childhood ..., your grandfather [sic - recte great-grandfather] my father though very well seated in Stratford [sic], hearing of the then famous transplantation in New England, unsettled himself and recalling me from Cambridge removed himself and family in the year 1631 in New England, and brought over with him myself being about 19 years of age, and my two younger brothers, Edward, and George, leaving my eldest brother John behind him in England.... My father brought with him into New England a very good estate and settled himself at Roksbury and there lived (though somewhat weakening his estate) till the year 1653 in January when he died, having buried my mother about eight years before."He was the son of William and Margaret (Chandler) (Monck) Denison. He married first Bridget Thompson and second Ann Borodell. George Denison died in Hartford, Oct. 23, 1694, while there on some special business, being 76 years old. His wife, Ann Borodell, died Sept. 26, 1712, aged 97 years. They were both remarkable for magnificent personal appearance, and for force of mind and character. She was always called "Lady Ann." They held a foremost place in Stonington. At the time of their marriage, in 1645, she was 30 years old and he 27. He has been described as "the Miles Standish of the settlement," but he was a greater and more brilliant soldier than Miles Standish. He had no equal in any of the colonies, for conducting a war against the Indians, excepting, perhaps, Captain John Mason. George's brother, General Daniel Denison wrote in 1672: " My Brother George buried his first Wife in the year 1643, went to England, was a soldier there about a year, was at the Battle of York or Marston Moor where he did good service, was afterward taken prisoner, but got free, and having married a second Wife, he returned to New England the year before our Mother died, and not long afterward removed himself to New London, near whereunto at Stonington he now liveth." The story is that George met his second wife, Ann Borodell, when he was wounded and took shelter in her father's house. He married her in England and returned to Massachusetts about 1644.
