However, there is that Alan of Ruthven's father was called Walter and that Sweyn was Alan's father-in-law. as now shown. Clarification is also needed whether Alan married twice and whether the children shown below were all by Cecily de Maule, as reported by TSP. The references to Sweyn of Crawford that he was both Alan's father and his father-in-law is unlikely as that would have been incestuous, which was probably more more commen in early times.
