DBART1839 reported that "This family was originally seated in the north of England." A brief comparison with the results of the Robinson Y DNA project show clearly a large number of test persons in the range of haplogroup R1b1a2a1a1b4+, which also closely match the results for Clann Gunn and their Wilson and Jamison septs. So it seems resonable to assume that the Robinsons, who seem to have arrived in York about 1450 to 1500 came from the Caithness in the Highlands after the murder of George Gunn, Crowner of Caithness, who died in 1464 with several of his sons in a treacherous attack by 24 men of Clan Keith.
