Walsham 1: Walsham of Knill Court, Walsham of Presteigne
BP1934 reports that "This ancient family derive their name from Walsham, or South Walsham, in Norfolk, in which county, as also in Suffolk, they held large estates from the 11th to the close of the 15th country." Reported as "claiming descent from the old Norman stock" was ... The estates of Walshame fell to estates to the Earl of Norfolk, Roger Bigod, who then became the patron. It continued in the hands of the Earls and their descendants until the time of Henry VIII when the advowson, or right to appoint a priest, was bought by Queen’s College Cambridge.
