Griffith p47 shows the undermentioned Howel as son of Madog Goch then shows the next line as "To Madog" father of William. Griffith p289 identifies Howel as "from Madog Goch" and then shows him as father of William. Griffith p195 shows Howel as 'of Glan'rafon Bach', being father of William and son of "Gruffydd, from Madog Goch". We do not have enough data/dates to suggest a solution to this confusion so the following is speculative.
