We understand that this refers to the early generations reported by the book that is our main source for this family. Unfortunately, the page that provided the information for this family had been torn. We were not able to read the name of the next generation and have probably missed out on some of the branches of the family. Given the doubt about the reliability of the earlier generations reported by Pishey Thompson's book, we start 'properly' with the following Frederick a 1327.

m Elizabeth Gosnold b about 1575 buried at All Saints Shelley. dau of Anthony Gosnold of Greendisburgh and Clopte sis of Bartholomew Gosnold, founding father of Jamestown, the first English settlement in America. The church was the centre of media attention in June 2005 when an attempt was made to compare the DNA of Elizabeth Gosnold Tilney with that of a skeleton found in Jamestown and thought to be Bartholomew b 1571 near Ipswich. Gosnold family seat at Otley Hall.
