Commoners starts with the following William without identifying his place of residence. Despite the fact that his grandson John is shown by Visitation as dsp, this appears to be the following William who was the first mentioned by Visitation Roupe. It is possible that his son Richard is the first mentioned by Visitation Devon, 1620, Roope, which would mean that his son John married Dorothy Ford and had 2 sons John & Nicholas not mentioned by Commoners but, as that Visitation record did not mention John's son William, there is not enough evidence to give assurance that that was the same family.
