"This family enjoyed extensive estates in the county of Berks for several centuries, and frequently received the honour of knighthood." They were also ancestors of US Presidents Harrison, General Robert E. Lee, Attorney General Francis Biddle and other heros of the English Civil War and the American Revolution.

This pedigree has been pieced together from establish data from the College of Arms for the part of the early generations, connecting the author's registered descent from Jane Pyle, sister of Sir Gabriel Pyle. Other parts have been added from at least 10 different websites and the Gedcom pecigrees of 3 of the author's autosomal DNA matches. There is some possibility that some of the matching DNA with some of these matches may involve Wade DNA, but for lack of other possible sources of the matching DNA, it seems that a part of the matching DNA does come from the progenitor shown, his spouse and/or daughter-in-law. Whether the Pyle immigrants of Pennsylvania descend from Py13-1 Richard Pyle or Py13 Thomas Pyle or an as yet unkown brother or a nephew of Py14 is still uncertain. As more DNA matches with a proven descent from one of the branches of this as yet somewhat "guesstimated" pedigree are found an analysis of the matching segments may resolve the open questions.

There is reason to believe that here in Bethel Township the whole Temperance Movement in America had its beginnings. Beginning in 1688, Pyle was a representative in the Provincial Assembly for many years. He was a longtime Justice of the Chester County Court, appointed, with John Roman of Chichester and Caleb Pusey of Chester Township to settle the boundary dispute between Pennsylvania and Delaware. possibly of this branch was: -1? y Pyle b c 1620 d c 1690 Ireland Many English, Welsh and Scots moved to Ireland following the Cromwell campaign there that caused a great loss of population after 1649. Many younger sons of the gentry and towns followed this call. Those left of the indigenous population were pushed to the western counties and lands were granted to the new settlers, which resulted in 250 years of great unrest in all of Ireland, until the south and west became independent in the 1920's, although the unrest continued in the north. Many of the newcomers suffered from the resentment and unrest and sought their luck in the new world where craftsmen were welcomed with open arms instead of being burned out.

Roger Ludlow, bapt. 1590 at Dinton, admitted to the Inner Temple 28 Jan. 1613, sailed to America in May 1630 aboard the ship Mary & John "which was called Ludlow's vessel" with his wife Mary Cogan, a sister-in-law of Governor John Endicott of Massachusetts, first Governor of the Connecticut Colony. Held the first court there on 26 Apr. 1636. He instituted trials before jurors. People voted on who could join the colony but church membership was not a requirement for citizenship. He was called the "Father of Connecticut Jurisprudence". Ludlow settled at Dublin and in November of 1654 was appointed to serve the Council as an adjudicator of matters relating to property law.
