BEB1841 Hewet of Headly Hill starts with Robert of Killamarch but notes "Of the same family was Sir William Hewet, Lord Mayor of London, 1559, but whether brother to this Robert is not certain". They presumed to be brothers here, with Sir William arbitrarily shown as the elder.

BEB1841 reports that, when Anne was young and the family lived on London Bridge, a maid dropped Anne into the river Thames. One of Sir William's apprentices, Mr. Osborne, "leap'd in bravely, and saved the child. In memory of which deliverance, and in gratitude, her father afterwards bestowed her in marriage on the said Mr. Osborne, with a very great dowry".
