Although Sir Alexander's ancestry is shown as in the above link, it is uncertain. Both Douglas and 'Fife' identify his father as Sir William Bruce of Escariot who lived in France for some years. GMcG identifies his wife as Janet, dau of John Stewart of Craigiehall, but both Douglas and 'Fife' identify her as ...
