The following connection is given in BLG1886 Lloyd of Sutton Coldfield. Sir Rowland is described as "brother of Lord Strange of Knockyn, a branch of the Derby family". The number of generations looks about right for his being a son of the 1st Earl though, as he is not mentioned by Visitation Yorkshire, 1563-4, Stanley, there is concern about this. It is a presumption that he was a son by the Earl's first marriage, not his second.
