Death: George Nicholas Bible owned by J. Shannon Nicholas; and tombstone.
Picture probably taken about 1890 as Matilda Prather Nicholas (fourth from right with hat) in the picture seems to be 12
Ni3 Matilda Prather Nicholas
; 5th from left (back row) is Samuel Smith Nicholas
Ni3-13; second from left is Ni3-12 Mary Anna Nicholas; the other younger ones Pope cousins of said Nicholas children.
Mary
Anna Pope must be older woman seated center, but seems much older than 57 as she was in 1895.
Heer mother can be discounted here although she did live to be 74, because she died in 1884 when Matilda Prather Nicholas was only 6
but looks fully adolescent in this picture.
The five younger women
that is one on the far left, one each right and left behind Mary Anna Pope and 2nd and 3rd from the right
must be Mary Anna Popes nieces. Since her mother and two oldest sisters
died in 83/84 they cannot have been in a picture with Matilda Prather Nicholas
at this age.
Affidavit of daughter-in-law, Evelyn Thompson Nicholas on Lawrence Nicholass heirs.
