The following is a copy of the Overton Resister, copied from
the book Josephus, November 24, 1670, at Yorktown:
OV10) "William Overton.
Born 1628, December 3 in England. Emigrated to America.

(Ov8-1) Elizabeth, their daughter, born June 18 or 28, 1673.
(Ov8-2)William Overton, their son, born August 14, 1675.
(Ov8-3) Temperance Overton, their daughter, born March 2, 1679.
(Ov8-4) Samuel Overton, their son, born August 14, 1685.
(Ov8) James Overton, their san, born August 14, 1688 who married
Elizabeth Waters .
(Ov8-5) Barbara Overton, .their daughter, born February 5, 1690.
Barbara Overton = John Winston.
Barbara. Overton Winston died October 3, 1766.”
The above is a copy made by William S. Pryor (a descendant of
Barbara Overton Winston) in August 182l.
This "Josephus" is mentioned in Barbara Overton Winston's will,
a
copy 01' which you will find in MI'. Isaac Winston's Mss.
This "Josephus" 'was burned at "Courtland" a few years ago when
the house of the late William Overton Winston was destroyed by 1'ire.

The history of this family has. not been checked by Mrs. George
Nicholas (Ni3-5).
It should be done, as it is not entirely consistent with some
known dates.
Some of the family left wills in Louisa County, Virginia.
Barbara Overton Terrell who married Aaron Fontaine was the daughter
of Richmond Terrell and Ann Overton. '
Richmond Terrell is said to be the namesake and Godson of the
Duke of Richmond. .
The will of Richmond Terrell is said to have been probated in
Louisa . County, Va.
