Ni3-5-2 Henry Thompson Nicholas

    was the son of George Nicholas IV (Ni3-5) and Evelyn Belle Thompson,
    grandson of  George Nicholas III (Ni4) and Mary Anna Pope (Po4)
    Born: 1898, November 15, at "Fairview" in Shelby County, KY.
    Married: 1924, June 21, at Beaufort, SC, in Old Episcopal Church to Lucina Elizabeth Van Dusen, daughter of Harry Alvin Van Dusen and Lucina Lillian Strops, of Edgarton, Ohio and Malvern, Arkansas.
    Died: 1975, November 10, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
    Buried: in the Cemeterio Nacional on 13 November, 1975.

    Henry Thompson Nicholas was educated in the public schools of Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky, and graduated at the Louisville Boy's High School in 1916. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, at Annapolis, Maryland, in 1919 (in the Class of 1920). He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a First Lieutenant, but was recalled in World War II, and served until 1945, when he retired as Major. After his second retirement he lived in various places, including Louisville. He lived in Mexico for a few years, studying Spanish language and literature, and received a Master's degree from the University of Mexico. He then taught Spanish in the United States. In his final retirement years he lived in Satellite Beach, Florida, with his wife. Becoming progressively incapacitated by strokes, he moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to a nursing home.
