Extensive earthworks remain from a 12th century castle along with one of the wall towers. It was used for a time as a royal hunting lodge, but fell into decay after the 15th century.
English Heritage open all year.
John Ludlow may have been the constable of Ludgershall Castle in the last years of its use. It may have been damaged during the War of Roses or in earlier battles and hence no longer used and become increasingly dilapidated during and after this period.
There does not seem to have been a Manor House there.
