Married: A marriage bond was found in the records of Mason Co. Kentucky dated 14 Aug.1802 for a William Hester and Catherine Waits with James Waits as Bondsman, Elizabeth Thomas as mother and Ephraim Thomas as witness. The ceremony was performed on 19th Aug. This indicates that either Elizabeth had (re)married after Catherine's birth or that Catherine was a widow or devorceé. It is more likely that the Catherine's father was also the father or brother of James Waits and had died long enough before this time for Elizabeth to remarry and that Ephraim was Catherine's stepfather. The Internet version of this marriage bond shows him as "Hesler" and not Hester, which might just be an uncrossed t.

1. FRANCIS1 HESTER was born 1650 in New Kent County, Virginia, and died Abt. 1720. He married GARLAND Bef. 1685 in Virginia.
Quotations from the Parish Register of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virginia, about the baptism of Robert and Mary children of Francis are the earliest records of our Hester line. Francis Hester's descendants lived in Virginia in the early 1700's and some remained there, but most migrated southward to Mecklenburg County, Virginia and Granville County, North Carolina, and from those places to other southern states.
Francis probably had other children besides Robert and Mary, but none were listed in available records. Nor is anything further known of Mary. Robert was mentioned in a number of records. He patented land in New Kent County, Virginia, in 1729 - 1300 acres; and in Hanover County, Virginia, in 1735 - 400 acres.
Francis Hester was first recorded in New Kent County, Virginia in 1686. In 1689, he was recorded in the Parish Baptismal Records of St. Peters Parish, and in 1704, in the Quit Rent roll with 300 acres of land. They were of German origin, left Germany because of religious wars, first settling in England and then to America. Had grants of land in Hanover and Louisa Counties, VA.

16. ROBERT HESTER4 WICKER (MARY3 HESTER, ROBERT H. (*)2, FRANCIS1) was born 1738 in Hillsboro District, Chatham County, North Carolina, and died January 02, 1821 in Cape Girardeau County, MO. He married HANNAH SIMMONS HOLLEY Abt. 1757, daughter of NATHANIEL HOLLEY and JANE SIMMONS.
In 1787, the land on which Warthen, GA stands was granted to Robert Heter Wicker by the government. A desposition of William Wicker, states that he and his father Robert were drafted into the Revolutionary War as private soldiers under Capt. John Blakney. William gave his d.o.b. as 22 December 1760 but beings the birth of his sister Jane is recorded as being 27 May 1760, William must have been confused perhaps as to the year he was born. They were residing at the time of the Revolutionary War in Chesterfield, SC. In the minutes of the Bethleham Baptist Church in Warthen, GA, Robert Wicker and his family were listed as being received in 1784 and dismissed in 1806. They were received 12 September 1807 into Bethel Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. They are buried in the Old Bethel Church Cemetary near Jackson in Capte Girardeau. Their daughter Nancy Wicker Sheppard is also buried there. Jane Wicker English is buried in the English Family Cemetary in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. At the time of Rachael's marriage to Benjamin Tennille, she owned land in Ga, granted to her or her 1st husband Mr. Deason as a Revolutionary War Veteran.
