    Was the daughter of Willoughby Griffith (Gr6) and Mary Ann Owens (Ow6).

     Sarah Griffith Hester (Gr5) had an ancestral background which went back six known generations in some of the families. This wou1d be 9 generations for her great grandson Clinton Monroe Hester (He3-9-1) and 11 generations for his grandchildren. These same families were also ancestors of Mary Maletus Griffith, a niece of Sarah (Griffith) Hester, who married Gilbert Hester( No.17) a nephew of Henry Hester. These families were Owens, Kenton and Griffith.

    OWENS  KENTON GRIFFITH

    Sarah Griffith's mother was Mary Ann Owens, the daughter of Jeremiah and Jane (Kenton) Owens. Mary Ann was born June 15, 1771 in Fauquier Co., Va. She died Dec. 12, 1852 in F1eming Co., Ky. She and Willoughby Griffith took out a marriage bond in Boy1e Co., Ky. on April 5, 1794. Her brother Jeremiah Owens was bondsman. They were married Apr. 8, 1794 near Danville, Boyle Co., Ky. Willoughby Griffith was born Mar. 20, 1766 in Fauquier Co., Va. and died May 26, 1841 in Fleming Co., Ky. Willoughby and Mary Ann (Owens) Griffith are both buried in the Griffith family cemetery on their old farm. In 1954 this cemetery was still intact. Among those buried there are:

    Mary E. Griffith, wife of Willoughby Jr., died Jan. 21, 1891. .
    Willoughby and Mary Ann (Owens) Griffith left the neighborhood of Danville, Ky. and settled near Washington in Mason Co., Ky. where they remained until 1801 or 1802 when they moved to Fleming Co. and settled about a mile and a half from Flemingsburg. Willoughby Griffith had gone from Fauquier Co., Va. to Boyle Co., Ky. in 1788. He fought in the Indian Wars and is believed to have served in the Army with General Anthony Wayne.
    Willoughby and Mary Ann (Owens) Griffith had 11 children:
    1. Evan Griffith, b. Jan. 15, 1795. In 1818 he went to Ind. and settled on White River in Owen Co. where he died in 1824. Unmarried.
    2. Jeremiah Griffith, b. Jan. 14, 1797; d. Apr. 5, 1873; m. Dec. 25, 1821 Cynthia Owens, b. Jan. 21, 1798; d. Sept.
    24, 1871 in Bracken Co., Ky. They had 7 chi1dren:
    1. E1izabeth O. Griffith, b. Aug. 28, 1823; m.

    2. Mary Griffith, b. June 10, 1825; d. Oct. 1826.
    3. Mary Maletus Griffith: b. Mar. 31, 1827; d.
    Feb. 2, 1902; m. Oct. 24, 1850 Gilbert4 Hes¬ter, b. Jan. 15, 1821 d. May 10, 1901. He was a nephew of Henry Hester who married Sarah Griffith the aunt of this Mary Maletus (Griffith) Hester.
    4. Willoughby Griffith, b. Ju1y 30,1829; d. May 14. 1845.
    5. Thomas Dully Griffith, b. Jan. 20. 1832; m. Dec. 25, 1854 Mary Ann Walker, b. Apr. 13,
    1838.
    6. Fielding Griffith, b. Feb. 27, 1834; m. Aug. 23. 1855 Nancy Jane Allen, b. Sept. 23,1836.
    They had 6 children: Mary Alice, Eliza Allen, Evan, Elizabeth H., James and Flora Jane.
    Note I the son James Griffith married Emma6  Hester  No. 800., a great granddaughter of
    Henry and Sarah (Griffith) Hester.
    7. Cynthia Ann Griffith, b. Oct. 24, 1836; d. 1913; m. Apr. 15, 1855 George W. Myers, b. Nov. 24, 1834; d. 1912. They had 12 children I Cynthia, William Lawson, Sallie, Daniel Boone, George W., Mary M., Emma C., Lula, Etna, Eva, Tillie and Omar. Note:  the daughter Lula Griffith was born Mar. 26, 1872; d. July 19, 1943; m. Dec. 6, 1891 William Hollis Field, b. Oct. 26, 1863; d. Nov. 4, 1957. They had 8 children, one of  whom was Elmer Ellsworth Field who married Anna Myrtle (Lucas) Butler May 9, 1927. No. 2684. She was a great great granddaughter of Henry and Sarah (Griffith) Hester.
    3. Sarah Griffith, b. Jan. 16, 1799; d. Nov. 6, 1867; m. July 27, 1820 Henry3 Hester, b. Feb. 28, 1797; d. Sept. 8, 1854. They had 9 children: John Kenton, Evan Grif¬fith, Willoughby Griffith, Mary Ann, Margaret, William, Ame1ia, Elias R. and Dennis.
    4. Dennis Griffith, b. Nov. 21, 1800; d. 1838; m. Feb. 1932 Delilah Walker, b. 1814; d. 1884. They bad 5 chi1dren Evan, Mary, Philip, Willoughby and Nancy.
    5. Mason Griffith, b. Dec. 28, 1802; m. Mar. 31, 1831 Mary Leforge, b. Dec. 11,1810. They had 7 children:
    Louisa, Lewis, Elizabeth, Elias, Ellen, Mary and Jose¬phine.
    6. Jane Griffith, b. Apr. 28, 1805; m. Oct. 2, 1825 Evan Griffith, b. Mar. 9, 1800. They bad 9 children: Mary Ann, Evan 0., Willoughby, Andrew and Edna. Jane d. July 1, 1888 and her husband Evan Griffith d. Apr. 21, 1872 in Brown Co. Ohio.
    7. Amelia Griffith, b. Apr. 4, 1807, died unmarried Aug. 9, 1880.
    8. John Griffith, b. Mar. 21, 1809;
    9. William Griffith, b. Oct. 11, 1810; d. Sept. 1, 1886; m. June 12, 1856 Mary Ellen Davis, b. Mar. 4, 1833; d. Jan. 21, 1872. They had 11 children: Among them were David, Louisa, Mary J., William, Amanda, Jessie, Re¬becca and Nancy.
    10. Nancy Griffith, b. Apr. 20, 1813; d. Jan. 2, 1892; m. Jan. 12, 1855 George Jones, b. Feb. 3, 1804; d. March 31, 1884. They had 2 children: Thomas and Willoughby.
    11. Willoughby Griffith, Jr., b. Nov. 16, 1818; d. Sept. 1, 1, 1886; m. Aug. 24, 1854 Julia A. D. Hall, b. Aug. 25, 1836; d. Sept. 3, 1904. They had 12 children: Mary, Amy B., Evan 0., Elizabeth D., Amelia J., Lyman Draper, Clara C., John H., Corri1a, Lucinda, Olive Fant, Wil¬liam H., and ?
