Bl9  James Bland

    George Bland (Bl10) and Grace??
    Bl9 James Bland Born: 30 Oct 1661 Died: 1708
    Married: Margaret Harrison b: 1659
    James Bland escaped the northern hinterland, as did many of the succeeding Bland generations, and migrated to London, although he didnít obtain the same success as Family #1 migrant, Adam Bland from Orton Parish.  James left Penrith as a young man and moved briefly to London, and thence to East Jersey and Virginia Colony in North America.  James appears to have married twice, as his will displays a cluster of older brothers who take charge of five younger siblings.  Most living Blands today descend from elder son William Bland (C1686-1744) and to a lesser extent his brothers James (C1687-1756) and John (C1688-1762).  A fourth and much younger son Robert died before reaching his majority.  Significantly, apart from the discovery that Ellen, one of Jamesí daughters married William Blandís associate William Davis, no known research has been done into the daughters, Alice, Patience, and Hannah. ;
    Bl8-1 William Bland b: 1686 d: 1744 resided in Stafford/Prince William County Virginia. He married twice, to an unknown woman and Catherine Key. See VU, pp. 267-275; AC 12-2, p. 18;  AC 14, pp. 10-18 and  AC 19/20. pp. 16-21. By his first wife, William had the following sons:
    Bl8-1-1. James Bland (1704-1774), Prince William County Virginia and New Hanover/Duplin County North Carolina.  James married Mary (Buchannan?).
